STUDENT MARRIAGE: Bauchi School re-opens after closure

The school in Bauchi which was closed after alleged marriages among its students has been ordered to re-open.

the order was contained in a statement issued by the State Deputy Governor and Commissioner of Education, Engineer Nuhu Gidadoy and signed by his Special Assistant on Communications, Yakubu Adamu.

The statement said the deputy governor had ordered the immediate re-opening of the school after its closure on Friday, 10th March, 2017. The school was ordered closed after the reported cases of two marriages by SS 2 students in the school. The deputy governor had after the closure constituted a committee comprising directors of the ministry of education, the school authority, Parent Teachers association (PTA) and other stakeholders to investigate the matter and submit a report.

The statement said the committee had carried out its investigations and submitted its report which was being studied for appropriate action to be taken.

"The findings and recommendations in the committee" report are currently being studied with a view to arriving at firm and far reaching decisions and, thereon, applying same appropriately.
All stakeholders will be advised accordingly in the next few days", the statement said
