LATEST: PRESS RELEASE OF THE YOMI OTUBELA FOUNDATION (Y.O.F)




The Yomi Otubela Foundation on 9th of June, 2016 announced that 186 applicants have been shortlisted electronically from 268 that applied for the scholarship program of YOF for the year 2016.
Exactly 82 applicants were weeded out on parameters set up in the registration portal for requirements in the exercise.
The President/ Founder of the YOF, Chief Yomi Otubela (FCMA) who made this known said the online registration portal was made available to the public for about 4 weeks from 25th May 2016.
He said those shortlisted will go to the next stage which involves a written examination at their examination states.
Otubela announced that the exercise will be done in 7 states and on the 18th of June 2016.
He further said the shortlisted candidates are from Primary 4 to SS 1 pupils / students and those that excel will be given a total free scholarship including tuition, academic materials, hostel accommodation etc.
Also a male and a female candidate will be picked from the IDP camps.
He said invitation letters have been sent to successful applicants for the examination through text messages and their electronic mail addresses.



He explained that the initial shortlisted names were done electronically and those who did not meet the initial requirements were weeded out by the computer. The reasons being the mismatch of certificate, alteration of result e.t.c.
Clearance on documents such as alterations on birth certificates, inconsistencies between results and others will be done on the examination day at various states
Otubela said after the examination, successful candidates will be invited to the headquarters of the YOF for interviews, which will climax the scholarship program.
He explained that the Federal Ministry of Education and State Ministry of Education are been carried along in this exercise.
He also explained that in spite of the number of qualified persons that may emerge; only the very best 7 will be given the scholarship.
